Toyota has bid farewell to the Rumion and entered the proper MPV segment. The identity designed Ertiga-based MPV is priced starting at Rs 10.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The starting price for reservation with Toyota is Rs 11,000, and deliveries will begin from September 8. We tested both the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Rumian. The Rumion price ranges from Rs 10.29 lakh to Rs 13.68 lakh, ex-display area. Toyota MPV Manual Transmission range starts from Rs 10.29 Lakh to Rs 12.18 Lakh. There are two programmed configurations, S priced at Rs 11.89 lakh and V priced at Rs 13.68 lakh, while the CNG configuration is estimated at Rs 11.24 lakh, all ex-showroom area.
The price of Ertiga starts from Rs. 8.64 Lakh and goes up to Rs. 13.08 Lakh. The manual option starts at Rs 8.64 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.58 lakh, while the automatic option goes up to Rs 13.08 lakh. The Ertiga is available in two CNG variants, VXI CNG Rs 10.73 Lakh and ZXI CNG Rs 11.83 Lakh, all ex-showroom.

Toyota Rumion vs. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Feature
In terms of features, both the Rumion and Ertiga are equipped with telematics suites like Toyota i-Connect and Suzuki Connect and offer over 55 options. The top variants of Rumion and Ertiga are loaded with highlights like Arkami’s surround framework, 7-inch infotainment framework with remote Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 6-speaker music framework including two tweeters and four airbags. New front grille
The immediate distinguishing component between the two models will be the new grille on the Rumion. It will get a cross section design in the front belt surrounded by a chrome frame. With the Ertiga, Maruti has favored a glitzy approach with a wrap of chrome at the center point of the grille. Both these MPVs will have the same arrangement of projector headlamps. Reprofiled bumpers

Also, the fog lamp housing looks very different on both the models. Schematically, the Rumian appears to be indistinguishable from the Arteaga, with similar lines and positioning. The new Toyota MPV features a three-support front grille which is either finished in dark or chrome depending on the trim. The slanted A-support points extend to its roof giving it an open vehicle look.

Interior theme
Rumiyan’s interiors are likely to have a dark theme. While the Ertiga gets double tone beige and dark beige, Toyota’s rendering should be possible in more ambiguous dark and light colours. The Rumion will have similar features as the Ertiga, including the same layout, steering wheel and infotainment system. There were rumors that the Rumion would have a darker interior, but Toyota has retained the beige interior of the Ertiga with dashboard panels made of teak wood. The second row of both MPVs gets roof-mounted AC vents with three-speed controls for better cooling.
Being a seven-seater, it also offers an adaptable seating option as the front column gets 60:40 split seats while the third row gets 50:50 split seats with a lean back cover. The front row also has a lean back and slide option. The interiors of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Rumion are very unique. Unlike the beige and black exterior of the Ertiga, the interiors of the new Rumion are grey. As such, we expect the Rumion’s interiors to be easy to maintain.

Exteriors

Engine
The Rumian and the Ertiga are available in both petroleum and CNG options. The petrol is handled by a 1.5-litre common suction motor with 102bhp and 137Nm of power.
