Design

The crossover design provided excellent value for its cost and essentially featured a Renault Kwid with an electric powertrain. The exterior design was unique to the new Renault language, giving the K-Ze a high-end appearance. The interior boasted impressive finishes, and while there was an abundance of hard black plastics, they were skillfully assembled.

Transmission

The K-Ze had a power output of just 44 hp and 120 nM, and it was equipped with a single speed transmission. Despite its light weight of only 921 kg, the K-Ze was capable of accelerating to 60 kph in under 7 seconds and had a top speed of 105 kph. The narrow wheels on the K-Ze were specifically designed to conserve electricity. In terms of build quality, the chassis of the K-Ze was surprisingly solid considering its low cost, and the steering performed adequately even when navigating corners. The estimated range of the K-Ze was around 271 km, although Renault suggested that depending on road and driving conditions, it could potentially reach up to 350 km.

Conclusion

The Kwid EV was introduced by Renault at a previous Shanghai motor show in China. The Kwid EV is a compact electric vehicle based on the KZ-E concept, which is the smallest model from the Fresh Automaker. It shares the same CMF-A platform as the Renault K-ZE. While visually similar to the Kwid, the Renault City KZ-E also incorporates some elements from the concept version. Renault’s goal is to sell over half a million electric car, with the Renault City K-ZE expected to contribute significantly to this target.
