Hero eMaestro: The Hero eMaestro concept electric scooter has been spotted at the company’s R&D facility, CIT (Hero Global Center for Innovation and Technology) in Rajasthan. As you can see, it is based on the Maestro Edge platform but gets a new all-electric powertrain. We saw the electric prototype without any body panels during the Hero World 2020 event in February, but we weren’t allowed to click pictures.
The scooter is powered by a lithium-ion battery attached to a permanent magnet motor. An interesting feature is that reverse, neutral and drive modes can be toggled by twisting the left handlebar, old-school scooter style, while the right handlebar gets throttle control as usual. Technical details of the electric scooter are currently unknown but it is expected to offer performance at par with the 110cc petrol-powered scooter.

Hero eMaestro Features
The scooter is powered by a permanent magnet motor which is connected to a lithium ion battery pack. Notable features of the scooter include LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, digital instrument cluster with cloud connectivity and an old-school style neutral, drive and reverse mode toggle in the left handlebar.
Hero eMaestro Engine & Performance
Hero says that the eMaestro features a powerful permanent magnet motor and state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack. Apart from this information, the bike maker has not disclosed any specification. Given that Hero MotoCorp has a major stake in Bangalore-based electric start-up Ather Energy, we believe the eMaestro could use the Ather 450 X’s permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack.
For reference, the 6kW motor of the Ather 450X makes 26Nm of torque while the battery pack offers a decent range of 85km. According to Hero, the eMaestro features a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack and a powerful permanent magnet motor. Apart from this information, the bike maker has not revealed any other specification.

Hero eMaestro Suspension & Brakes
The Maestro Edge gets telescopic forks, mono shock suspension system and 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels on the Maestro Edge. Both the wheels seem to have been stopped using the exact same drum brake setup.
The eMaestro appears to get Maestro Edge telescopic fork and mono shock suspension setup along with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels. Braking too seems to be the same drum brake setup on both the wheels. The frame is detachable to accommodate the battery pack and electric motor.

As of now, there is no information from the two-wheeler manufacturer on an update on the battery specs. However, looking at the competition, we expect a riding range of 150+ km on a single charge.
