The sub-four meter car has got ABS and EBD safety gear in the model variant, which was earlier available only on the first class Titanium and Titanium+ variants. Showcased as the Aspire at the 2014 Delhi Auto Show, the finished version of the sub-minimal car was known as the Aspire and was launched in August, 2015. In the wake of the ‘One Ford Technique’, the Aspire showcased its plan to some other new generation Ford vehicles including the Holiday and EcoSport. After unveiling its rendition as the Aspire at the 2014 Delhi Car Show, the Aspire has finally been launched in the country in the price range of Rs. 4.89 Lakh – Rs. 8.24 Lakh (East Display Area, Delhi). In light of the ‘One Ford Technology’, the Aspire offers its plan components in some trendy Ford vehicles including EcoSport and Holiday. Feature

The Ford Aspire is offered with three motor options – a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petroleum, a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel and a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petroleum motors. The smallest of the three, the 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petroleum motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and produces 87bhp of peak power and 112Nm of peak torque.

Performance

Aspire has redesigned both the 1.2-litre petroleum and 1.5-litre diesel motors to meet more stringent discharge standards. The 1.2 petrol is actually pretty good at 96hp and 119Nm of power – 1Nm less than the BS4 unit – while the diesel makes an indistinguishable 100hp and 215Nm. Both motors are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Exterior

The Ford Aspire gets another belt that includes a monumental honeycomb design chrome grille, C-built haze light units and revised guards. It runs on a superb arrangement of multi-spoke compound wheels. At the rear, there are redesigned taillights and another chrome support at the rear. These visual updates make it appear more like the larger Aspire vehicle marked in South Africa or the free-form one sold here in India.

Interior

The most obvious changes to the facelift are inside. The free-form inspiration carries over, although instead of a full run of brown, the Aspire gets a double tone dashboard with beige-dark colored completions. The main update for the Tri is the drifting touchscreen with SYNC3 infotainment framework in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Touchscreen Framework Correlation

We have audited this framework in our Touchscreen Framework Correlation and you can read about it here. The instrument cluster looks unchanged from the CUV and the beige upholstery gives the Aspire a top-notch feel. The components around the fog lights and headlamps are the same as those found in the Free-Form, albeit in chrome.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine is a 1.2-litre, three-chamber Winged Serpent series petroleum motor producing 95bhp of power as seen on the free-form. It comes with a five-speed manual transmission. The diesel model is powered by the tried-and-true 100bhp/215Nm 1.5-litre diesel motor mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Petroleum motor

The larger petroleum motor – 1.5-litre Ti-VCT – comes with a section-initial 6-speed double grasp program, and produces 110bhp and 136Nm. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel motor produces 99bhp and 215Nm. Ford claims eco-friendliness figures of 18.5kpl for the petroleum and 24.4kpl for the diesel motor.

Design

With the facelift, Ford has figured out how to fix a lot of the bugs bundled with the Tri. It also includes not one, but two new petroleum motors and two new gearboxes. It continues to offer the Heavenly Fitness package, but leaves out a touch of shine and weakens a notch in the space and quality department. Speculating strongly, we think Aspire is a wonderful boost to the cash bundle. It’s one of two vehicles that can essentially do everything.

Cross-hatchback

The Ford recently launched the BS6-compliant Aspire low-cost car along with its hatchback counterpart, the Aspire, and the free-form cross-hatchback. Priced from Rs 5.99 lakh, the BS6 Lakshya is available in a choice of four trim levels, though the basic version is petrol. There is a base diesel version on offer, although it is only available to business buyers. The BS4 vehicle was with five trim levels.
